100% Pure Mascaras Round Up and Review

 Hi Lovelies,

100%Pure Mascaras Review & Comparison

100%Pure Maracuja mascara in Black Tea at the top, their original Fruit Pigmented Mascara in Black Tea at the bottom

Today I am presenting to you my favourite clean and green mascara! Pass the drum roll please, and ta-da-da-dah! it's 100%Pure Maracuja Mascara in Black Tea! 100%Pure does have two types of mascaras, and I will touch on both of them here, but to be clear from the start, my favourite is Maracuja one, while their original mascara tends to do very little for me, and it's mainly down to the brush. I think. I will go in a bit more details in just a second.
So as I just mentioned, 100%Pure does two types of mascaras, they sound very similar in name and they also appear very similar on the outside, they both have that gorgeous sleek silver bullet type of packaging with flower prints on them, but if you look closely, the original mascara is in true silver, but their Maracuja is packaged in rose gold packaging, and that is the one I like. I should also mention they also do some variations in colours, but having tried (and overdid) coloured mascaras in my youth I have no desire to wear them again, so I only tried the black ones. The original Fruit Pigmented Mascara has some weird shaped brush that does nothing for you, and it is also too long in my opinion, it is very easy to get mascara on your eyelids and everywhere you don't want your mascara to be! The brush thins out in the middle and I am not sure where were they going designing this type of the brush, but they sure missed it if you ask me, it is very hard to use and you hardly can build it up, the result is very "natural looking", or as they say "it's good everyday mascara" - or as I say, it will give you zero volume and sparse looking lashes, which is exactly what I don't want! I was really disappointed when i first tried it, I can compare it with DrHaushka mascara, they are very similar in that sense, but having learned this lesson I avoid any mascaras that are described as "good for everyday" or "natural looking" from then on, I don't want natural looking, I want volume! length! drama! With my short and stumpy lashes I need all the help I need in this department. If you would see my family's lashes, you would understand why. Cow's lashes anyone?
Now let's get back to the mascaras, shall we? The Maracuja one has a way better brush as you can see in the photo, it's the old fashioned big fat brush that you can really build the product up with, and this is exactly what I need, so I was like, thanks Green Beauty Gods for this! I am so glad I gave this a chance, because after such a disappointment with their first one I very nearly missed out on it. Both mascaras have gorgeous very clean ingredients, shall we look into it?

Ingredients: Fruit Pigmented Black Tea Mascara:
Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (Organic Green Tea), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Cera Alba (Honey Beeswax), Rubus Fruticosus Fruit Extract (Blackberry Extract), Ribes Nigrum Fruit Extract (Blackcurrant Extract), Rubus Idaeus Fruit Extract (Raspberry Extract), Hydrolyzed Oat Protein (Oat Protein), Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein (Wheat Protein), Pantothenic Acid (Pro-vitamin B5), Fucus Vesiculosus Extract (Seaweed Powder), Coconut Stearic Acid (Coconut Acid), Mica, Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter (Cocoa Butter), Pearl Powder, Oryza Sativa Germ Powder (Rice Powder), Theobroma Cacao Extract (Cocoa Powder), Coffea Arabica Seed Extract (Powdered Coffee Beans), Mel (Lavender Honey), Origanum Vulgare Leaf Extract (Oregano Extract), Thymus Vulgaris Flower/Leaf Extract (Thyme Extract), Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract (Rosemary Extract), Lavandula Angustifolia Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract (Lavender Extract), Hydrastis Canadensis Extract (Goldenseal Extract)

Ingredients: Maracuja Mascara in Black Tea:
Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Wax, Coconut Stearic Acid, Pantothenic Acid (Pro-vitamin B5), Fucus Vesiculosus (Seaweed) Powder Extract, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Passiflora Alata (Maracuja) Seed Oil, Extracts of Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe Juice) Leaf*, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Germ Powder, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Powder, Coffea Arabica (Coffee Beans) Seed, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower/Leaf/Stem, Hydrastis Canadensis (Goldenseal), Passiflora Alata (Maracuja) Seed, Lonicera Caprifolium Flower and Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Vegetable Glycerin, May Contain Iron Oxides * Certified Organic

Now, if you looked into that closely you would notice that their original mascara has beeswax and pearl powder in it, making it not vegan, and their Maracuja one does not have those, making it perfectly fine for my vegan friends! It does not also contain gluten, making it perfect for me! Both formulas are fantastic, very clean ingredients, you would be pressed hard to find such a clean ingredients in the green beauty world, and what I like even more, both mascaras will make your eyelashes grow! And I know it is this for a fact, I noticed them getting very long and healthy looking since starting using it, and I don't use any lash serums, no castor oil, nuffink! Now, I probably confused you a little bit here saying that I like both formulas very much, and let me clarify - once I got a (maracuja) mascara  that was gone off already and it smelled of alcohol, not the usual pleasant fruity scent, and after a few email exchanges I got a replacement (their customer service is fantastic btw) but since Maracuja mascara was out of stock at the time, they sent me the original one, and after one use I was like "Oh, now I remember why I don't like this!" but since switching up the brush from their Maracuja mascara it worked just fine, the way I like it. Such a minor thing, the bend in the brush, but it makes such a dramatic difference!

So to round it up, both mascaras are very good for different reasons, and it is up to you which one to choose, if you already have perfect lashes to begin with and you are not a vegan, you may go for their original Fruit Pigmented Mascara, but if you are like me where you need all the help in this department, I highly recommend that you try their Maracuja mascara (remember, rose gold packaging) and you will be glad you did! I have never repurchased any other mascara five or six times before, and to be honest I am so happy with it, l don't plan to look much further in the mascaras department, because I have wasted tons of money in doing so, where all these other brands didn't work for me for various reasons, and when you finally hit the jackpot you don't want to stray from it, right? In fact I will go on as far as to say that it is my nr1 from this brand, and it's one thing I will always repurchase as long as 100%Pure will ship it to Ireland.

So there you have it, my 100%Pure Mascaras round up and review, and I hope I touched all aspects of it, but if you have any questions, please let me know :)

Have you tried it? What is your favourite green mascara? Please share with me either here on in my Instagram page, I would really love to know.

That is all for now, see you next Monday.
Lots of Love,
Renata.

100% Pure Caffeine Mask review and one tip on how to make them last three times longer!

Hi Lovelies,

Welcome back! And if you are new here, welcome 💕💕💕

100% Pure Caffeine sheet masks

Let's talk about these amazing sheet masks, shall we? Until last year I wasn't into masks at all, and if it weren't for the awesome gift with purchase deal that 100%Pure had a while back, I wouldn't have tried these masks and would have missed out on such an awesomness! It truly does amazing things for the skin - it will look way more happy and plump, all the irritations and small red patches will be gone in a flash. I will spare you the Hannibal Lecter style selfie, but you can imagine how you look with it on! I am masking while I lay in the Epsom salts bath on Sundays in a bid to not scare the family members. You have to keep the mask on for around 20mins, but keeping it longer won't hurt.
These masks retail for €6 for one or for €25 for a pack of five, so they are not too expensive, and I highly suggest you would treat yourself to one (or five) sometime soon! I already told my husband that when we will come into money, I will make them into the regular occurrence in my beauty arsenal. You can get those and other type of masks (which I haven't tried yet) from their website. Let's have a look into the ingredients, shall we?

Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe Juice)*, Coffea Arabica (Green Coffee) Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid), Arbutin Extract (from Bearberry), Camellia Sinensis (Organic Green Tea) Extract*, Fucus Vesiculosus (Seaweed) Collagen, Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Ilex Paraguariensis (Yerba Mate) Extract, Plant Cellulose, Glycerin * Certified Organic

Pretty fabulous if you ask me!

The official blurb:
Caffeine effectively restores sun damaged skin, is anti-inflammatory, stimulates circulation, and soothes redness. The mask material "hydrogel" is composed from 95% organic aloe water and 5% plant cellulose made to intensely hydrate. The longer you leave the mask on your skin, the thinner the hydrogel mask becomes because the water gets absorbed into the skin. The hydrogel assists in delivering active ingredients onto your skin.

My comments:
I have to agree it does what it says on the tin, err, packaging. I already mentioned that my skin gets more plump and bright every time I use it. I am also very happy with it because the skin becomes very smooth and all the irritations in a form of dry patches and redness also disappear! Albeit the effect is temporary, but on the next day I can skip the face cream and make up, because my skin looks that good! I couldn't believe my eyes at the difference after my first use.

My frugal tip:
No, it is not what you think, I am not about to suggest to reuse the same mask five times, my two cents on it would be not to throw the water from the packet, because that's where the active ingredients are at, I decant the liquid into small glass bottle and keep it in the fridge, and there's enough of it for one or more uses! You can use rice paper (which is easy to find nowadays in the oriental section of your supermarket or your local Asian store) cut to the size like I show you here, or clean muslin cloth if you can't find rice paper or you don't want to use it.
Rice paper has many good properties on it's own, so it will only add benefits to this DIY mask, it will help brighten the skin and face acne scars, as well as help to erase blemishes. Simply cut it to size, take a shallow plate big enough to fit the rice paper in, make some green tea and pour some of it into the plate (don't forget to sip the rest of it while masking), add the caffeine liquid and soak the rice paper. Place it on the face, and like with the original mask, keep it for around 20 mins and peel it off. Don't rinse.
By the way, remember this tip even if you don't have the liquid from 100%Pure, you can customise the mask in a million different ways, only with green tea, tea and honey, tea and clay, tea and spirulina, you get the idea!

This is how I cut the rice paper to size, the top is for forehead, the bottom is for the chin, the two parts for the cheeks and the middle one is for the nose. You can customise it your way too :)

My verdict:
Do I like and recommend this mask? Yes and Yes!! Overall, when it comes to this brand this is one of my top three items from them, probably at nr2, the first one being the maracuja mascara (review to come, promise) and the third being the powder blushes. It is truly safe to say that I've come to love this product and want to have it at all times. 2015 was the year where I tried loads of masks, from cheaper clay masks to very expensive rose ones with probiotics in them, and this mask blew all the others out of the water, in my mind it is simply the best from what I have tried so far.
Psst! Get them from Amazon, Detox Market, Safe & Chic and other places :)

So that is all for now, I hope you enjoyed this post and found it helpful! See you next Monday, I will have a new blog post every Monday from now on. Why Monday you ask? Why, to brighten up your day of course!

DIY make up brush sanitizer cleanser spray

Hello Lovelies,

Welcome back! And if you are new here, welcome 💕💕💕

Today I have a super simply DIY for you, and really, what could be easier? Just two ingredients (three if you count the spray bottle) - all you need is rose water and tea tree oil! (Mine happens to be organic, but it does not have to be). If you don't want to or can't use rosewater, you can use any other floral water that is suitable for your skin. Or distilled water. Plain tap water is not suitable because it will go bad in a few days.
How to do it? Well, it is pretty self explanatory, but if you want me to be specific, here's how - fill 200ml bottle with rose water, add 10-20 drops of tea tree (also known as melaleuca) oil and voila, you are done! Tea tree oil is an antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antiviral and many other good things that I won't go into details of, but in this instance it makes it perfect for a purpose of cleaning and disinfecting your make up brushes in between proper washes. I use this spray after every use and clean the brush on the paper towel, and properly wash all the brushes every week. After getting dermatitis on my face I am anal about not getting any bacteria on my brushes or make up for that matter. Why risk infections, right?
One word of caution before you start, please do a patch test to make sure you are not allergic to the tea tree oil, and obviously not use it if you are indeed allergic! If you find the smell too offensive for your sensitive nose, reduce the quantity to 5 drops. I does smell rather strong.
P.s. this doubles up as a refreshing room spray and a deodorant in a pinch (I know I used rose water all over in a sweltering heat in Greece last summer and found myself not needing a deodorant) This would not work for everyday life though. Just wanted to throw the thought out there to make your products work overtime for you :)
And there you have it, your own DIY make up rush cleanser spray! It only costs less than a euro to make and it works great, and now you can ditch those shop bought sprays and save yourself so much money! And spend it where it matters more, for example to buy more make up :)

DIY Master Multitasker and Lip & Cheek Multiple

Hi Lovelies,

Cotton Candy Multiple and the grand Master Multitasker!
Photographed in the mid day light with zero filters. The colours are true to life.

Hello my lovely green beauty lovers, l am excited to present my DIY today that l am really pleased with, l made three items in one go, but the main star in this post is the Master Multitasker, aka a long lost cousin of the grand Master Mixer of RMS! It didn't take long to guesd the inspiration behind it, did it? The second DIY that is not less exciting is the lip and cheek multiple that I named “Cotton Candy” after the mica used. I have been road testing these two products for the last week, and they work great! These last the same as RMS products on me, as in one hour on the lips and four-five hours on the cheeks. The ingredients are all nourishing for the skin, so you can really feel good about it! Please bear in mind that I don't have the Master Mixer (and no plans to buy it either) so I can't swatch them side to side, but in my eyes it is a pretty close dupe! I happened to have all the ingredients mentioned here, so this whole thing cost me zero euro, but even if you would have to buy the ingredients, it would cost you way less than one RMS product, and you would be able to produce loads of jars of finished products, enough for all of your friends and family. You can get shea and cocoa butters as well as the beeswax and the coconut oil in the health shops, and mica is easily available online, try etsy (I know for sure you can find it there). I myself got it from Voyageour Soap & Candle company - they are Canadian company that don't ship to Europe, but I sent them an email pleading to do so for me, and they agreed! I purchased four micas at that time, so still have loads to play with, and they are extremely beautiful and affordable. You can do the same, email them and ask nicely? I will link to them in my Instagram post.

So without further ado, let’s get down to business!

What will you need:
Shea butter
Cocoa butter
Coconut oil
Beeswax
Mica (or micas) if you plan to do more than one DIY
Glass or metal jar
Pot or bain marie
Sticks for mixing
Little pot(s) for finished product
(Don't forget the kitchen glove or towel too)

Master Multitasker Recipe:
0.5 teaspoon of shea butter
0.5 teaspoon of cocoa butter
0.5 teaspoon of coconut oil
1.5 teaspoon of mica (or 2 if you want the more intense colour) - I used Voyageur Soap & Candle Co Honey Beige mica (inci for those of you interested CI77891, CI77492, CI77491, CI77499) or I suggest any bronze mica with a golden hue

The method:
Put all the ingredients except mica into a glass of steel jar/container and melt them in a pot of boiling water or double boiler taking care not to burn yourself! Once melted, take it out using a towel or a kitchen towel and place it on the counter. Once cooled enough to the touch, stir in the mica and stir vigorously because it sets quickly. Scrape it into a little container and ta-dah, you have yourself your own Multitasker! You can try it now or you can wait for 1-2 hrs until it sets.

Cotton Candy Multiple:
0.5 teaspoon of cocoa butter
0.5 teaspoon of shea butter
0.5 teaspoon of coconut oil
1.5 teaspoon of mica, I used Cotton Candy mica by the same company, but you can use any colour of your choice (inci CI77019, CI77891, CI73360)

The method:
The same as above, the only difference is the colour of mica used.

My comments:
The beauty of this recipe is that it is not set in stone, if your skin can’t handle coconut oil, you can substitute it with another oil, and if you don't have one of the butters you can double up one butter in the recipe. The Master Multitasker turned out to be milder in colour than Cotton Candy Multiple, I guess that depends on the mica? I am happy enough with the colour intensity as it is, but if you want louder “in your face” colour, you can re-melt the whole thing and add more mica.
I think both of these beauties will come in handy in the upcoming spring and summer, the Master Multitasker can be used exactly like it's famous cousin, in a variety of ways, on your lips, cheeks, nose, on the eyelids (it makes a perfect cream shaddow if you ask me) and on top of other products to change their colour too. Once the weather will warm up enough to show some skin, I will try it on my shoulders and decolte area too, I made enough to play around like that, and if I will run out in the middle of the summer I can always make more, now that I know it only takes a few minutes and costs a few pennies to make. (the third pot you see in the photos is the hand balm, which is simply a leftover base).
I feel if I made a bigger quantity of this with more oils than butters (using bronze mica) it would turn out into perfect bronzing body cream, don't you think? Watch this space, l might do exactly that
So there you have it, my take on the DIY multiples. As l mentioned before, it costs little money and time to do it, and I hope you will give it a try. Let me know your thoughts on it, or tag me in your Instagram posts if you will make it?
